Mr. Logan Burnside is proud to be the Director of Bands at Jordan High School! The Jordan High School Bands are a thriving and integral part of the high school and Jordan community. The JHS Concert band performs regularly at community events including Heimatfest, The Chamber of Commerce “Jordandazzle” Parade, Memorial day parade & services, high school graduation, JHS sporting events at home and away, and many more! In addition the Jordan band performs at four formal concerts throughout the school year. The JHS Band has earned superior ratings at large group band contest for the last two years and continues to score incredibly high at solo & ensemble contest. In the Spring of 2014, the JHS Band traveled to Orlando, Florida and performed in Walt Disney World and participated in a clinic with Disney Musicians. In the Spring of 2016 the band will travel again, this time to Chicago, Illinois!
This year marks Mr.Burnside’s fourth year teaching in Jordan and over that short time the JHS Band has grown significantly. This year the JHS band will have over 74 members, the largest it has been in the last four years! In addition to teaching the JHS Band, he also teaches the JHS co-curricular jazz ensembles and drumline and 8th grade band at Jordan Middle School.
In May of 2011 Mr.Burnside graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in Instrumental and Classroom Music Education. During college he performed in numerous ensembles including the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, Vasa Wind Orchestra, Adolphus Jazz Ensemble, Woodwind Choir, Saxophone Quartet, Jazz Combos, and many others traveling and performing throughout the United States and eastern Europe. Mr.Burnside is currently completing his Master’s in Music Education from the University of St.Thomas.
