6th Grade Social Studies:
The study of Minnesota's History
The hobbies and activities in my life seem to revolve around work. Renovating my 100+ year old farm house. Working/helping out on the farm for my wife's family, working in my garden, working in the summer for my brother-in-law and a college friend. In my limited free time, I enjoy visiting historical sites and museums, watching Golden Gopher athletics, and visiting family. My son, Henry, (19 months) takes up the rest of my time with his constant movement and energy.
I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State University, Moorhead. I received my masters in social studies instruction from the University of Minnesota. My wife and I are both proud graduates of the University of Minnesota, and we proudly cheer for the Golden Gophers.
This will be my tenth year at Jordan Public Schools. My goal for this year is to teach students to learn to think and read critically. As citizens we must not be afraid to question and examine decisions and events that have occurred in our state. We will also use historical fiction novels, videos, primary sources, case studies, and other types of reading to help use gain an understanding of Minnesota's history.
As a teacher, I value hard work(effort), creative thinking, and willingness to listen other's opinions or ideas.
